Home-made Christmas presents

When I was young, my parents would encourage me and my sisters to make Christmas presents ourselves. My mom would say that if you give a present your time, thought, work and most importantly, your love, it will be worth all the much more. Today, as adults (or so at least it seems that we must be adults already), we usually buy most of our presents. That doesn’t mean we put less of our thought and love in it, but wouldn’t it be nice to try putting in some more of our time and efforts, once in a while? So, how about bringing back that childhood tradition? Let’s make some presents!

Today I would like to share with you our ideas for home-made natural and organic cosmetics. We’ll be making three scrubs: brown sugar, sea salt and coffee. We created the very simple recipes with my mom, tested them on ourselves and just love them! I suggest using glass jars that can be reused, saying no to plastic. Take a look at the recipes below:

BROWN SUGAR SCRUB

RECIPE: We are using organic course brown sugar, organic coconut oil and vanilla extract.
Mix all together in a bowl, use enough coconut oil to use up all the sugar. Transfer ready scrub into a glass jar.

SEA SALT SCRUB

RECIPE: We are using course sea salt, organic coconut oil and lavender oil.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, adding just a few drops of lavender oil for a lovely smell. Transfer ready scrub into a glass jar.

COFFEE SCRUB

RECIPE: We are using organic ground coffee and organic coconut oil.
Mix together in a bowl, be careful as it can get messy! The coffee smell is so intense and lovely that there’s no need to anything else. Transfer ready scrub to glass jar.

Decorate your jars as you like best, enjoy using, enjoy giving… Do you ever make Christmas presents yourselves? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments!
