ABOUT ONLINE CLASSES:

WHAT IS ASHTANGA?

Ashtanga is a dynamic form of yoga, connecting breath and movement into a mindful meditation. This healing practice will help you build strength, flexibility, and find balance in your body and mind.

What to prepare: Yoga mat, comfortable clothing, if possible 2 yoga blocks and strap.

Booking into the class:

I ask that all students book into classes by email the evening before the class (email me at ashtanga.miyoga@gmail.com). There will be a minimum of 3 students for the class to run, I will confirm the class and send you the zoom link on the morning of the class.

ABOUT THE CLASSES:


Online Led class:

  • A 75 minute led class based on Ashtanga Yoga Primary series. Each class will begin with a few minutes of Mindfulness and an opening stretch, learning to approach the practice with self awareness and a deeper sense of focus.

  • You will be guided through the sequence of Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series at a pace appropriate for all students, focusing on ways to approach each posture in a way that will be accessible to you. I will offer modifications when needed, so you can go into the asana safely and at your own level.

  • At the end of the class we will focus on some Pranayama breathing techniques followed by a guided relaxation. Class is appropriate for all levels.

Online Mysore class:

  • The Online Mysore class is a self practice class, appropriate for students who have a knowledge of at least the standing sequence of Ashtanga Primary series. You will be sent a cheat sheet of the postures before the class to print and have by your mat if needed.

  • The class will begin with 15 minute Mindfulness Practice, where we will focus on mindful breathing and movement. You will be guided through Pranayama breathing techniques and a short sequence of movements to prepare the body before the practice. For students wishing to go straight into their regular practice, please join us before 9 o'clock for the opening chant.

  • You will learn the foundation poses of the Ashtanga Yoga series in a traditional way (one-on-one and pose-by-pose). You will develop a practice that is appropriate to your level and individual needs, learning to approach it in a mindful way, cultivating self-awareness and finding a deeper sense of focus.

  • The class will be from 1h 45 minutes long, but if your practice is shorter, you are welcome to finish earlier.

·      PRIVATE ONLINE CLASS

I am also offering online 1:1 private classes. This class will be specifically designed to your needs and ability level. I will guide you through the practice, while giving you verbal adjustments. This will help you approach each asana with better understanding of the movement and experience it fully. I will offer modifications when needed, so that anyone can do this practice.

If you are a new student this is a great way to get started with the Ashtanga practice. If you are an established student, then this class will allow you to deepen your practice and grow in confidence.
